The Family Time residential apartment, designed by Shi Zhe Lo, redefines the concept of a living space for families. By combining the original living room and the restaurant, the designer has created a comprehensive public area that promotes family bonding and interaction. The main spatial tone of this area is defined by a soothing gray color, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.
The unique feature of this design lies in the permeable hanging frame made of iron material and the metal boards of Titanium crystal. This hanging frame serves as the focal point of the public area, balancing the visual effects and adding a touch of elegance to the space. The humble chandelier and the iron decorations on the end wall are visually included in this frame from different angles, creating concise spatial layers that captivate the users' visual awareness.
One of the key elements in the design is the area of permeable shelves, which plays an important role in separating the paths in the space. This allows for the separation of different functions between the living room and the study room, providing privacy and functionality. The study room, intentionally designed with two entry sides, can be adjusted according to different events and the number of users, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
The gray sofa with no back design serves as an intermediate role between the living room and the restaurant. This design choice creates a more open and visually unobstructed public area, allowing for better care of elderly members and children. The ceiling, decorated with black and yellow lines, not only enhances the vertical height of the space but also subtly defines the sub-areas and paths, adding depth and character to the design.
The Family Time residential apartment spans 205 square meters and was completed in February 2017 in Taichung City. Despite the limited space, the efficient spatial strategy employed in this design successfully caters to the needs of a three-generation family. By leveraging detailed objects and thoughtful spatial planning, a wonderful atmosphere and a high-quality living experience are achieved.
This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award celebrates designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. The Family Time residential apartment exemplifies the integration of art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in the quality of life and making the world a better place.
